Readers run in the Philippines
MANILA: The Newspaper and Magazine Dealers Association of the Philippines (MDAP) says newspaper readership is declining steadily.

Lawyer Raymund JA Mercado, MDAP president for Visayas, said: “The decline could be attributed to the onset of news on the Net and the fact that working people are becoming too busy with earning a living that they find reading the news of least importance and would rather just watch television and get pot shots of the latest news.”

Metro ticked off for advert
STOCKHOLM: Free newspaper Metro has been fined half a million kronor after it gave over the whole front page of its Swedish edition to an advert for a video game.
The Swedish Market Court ruled that the advert, for the Xbox game Halo 2, could easily “be confused with editorial material”.

New lawsuit against Black
Toronto: Hollinger has announced it is taking Conrad Black to court, claiming damages of more than $700 million.
The suit claims breach of contract, conspiracy, unjust enrichment and unlawful interference.
