“Ready! Steady! Go!”
Aaron Bernstein — former holder of a dozen world eating records — tucked into his first doughnut. Across the table, Chip Tobor began methodically demolishing his own plate of doughnuts.

Aaron was determined not to let his remaining world record slip. The young pretender, Tobor (a recent discovery of sponsoring team Sonny Electronics), had taken all but Aaron’s doughnut eating record. The Press joked that Tobor had hollow legs. Where he put the food was a mystery.
Aaron took the early lead. However, the pencil-thin Tobor was relentless.
Hoping a final spurt would clinch victory, Aaron stuffed two doughnuts at a time into his mouth. Then the chest pains started. He fell from his seat, gasping for breath.
Looking up at his archrival, Aaron noticed something awry. Sparks were coming from Tobor’s nostrils. It seemed that while Aaron’s malfunction was purely physical, Tobor’s was mechanical.
