NEW South African duo ‘EBONY’ – featuring Ian David and recording star Thuli – has breathed new life into the Flamingo Bar at the Mِvenpick Hotel Bahrain.
Ian Malgarte comes from a musical family – his father started him on piano lessons at age five. He said: “I was initiated into music early as my father and all the family members lived and breathed music. It was perhaps destiny … that when I had to choose a vocation; it had to be music and nothing else.”
In contrast, Thuli is the only professional singer in her family. A choir girl who flowered into a performer par excellence, hers is truly a tale that dreams are made of.
Thuli captured the listeners with her savvy singing style; moving with ease from jazz to soul to R&B with just one simple and remarkable instrument – her voice.
After launching her own solo album, “Thuli” in 1997, Thuli’s singing career took off and she performed in Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London and West Africa.
So catch the ‘EBONY’ duo at the Flamingo Lounge in the Moevenpick Hotel Bahrain every night (except Saturdays) from 9pm onwards.
