Hair getting thinner?
Realising that you are thinning or noticing that there is more hair in your brush, shower drain and on your pillow is most disturbing,
We may rationalise that it’s brought on by stress or damage from chemicals and try to hide the problem; however the first step to getting your locks healthier and fuller is to find the root of the problem, don’t ignore it, figure out your best line of defense.
The problem of thinning hair may be caused by a number of things, an overactive or under active thyroid, chemotherapy, medications, antibiotics, anesthetics, and birth control medication, these are very often overlooked, but more common causes are poor nutrition, high protein and fad diets .Even external environmental toxins and pollutants, such as chlorine, metallic salts, minerals and poor water conditions cannot be ignored.
There are probably many of you here in Bahrain that have at some time experienced thinning hair, I would advise you to gather as much information on why your hair may be thinning and discuss your situation with a qualified hairstylist or your doctor especially if you have had any health related concerns like the ones I have mentioned earlier, your stylist or doctor should be a knowledgeable and understanding resource.
The following is a short look at what you can do to promote hair growth...
Always make sure that when you are using chemicals, apply them to the hair and avoid the scalp wherever possible,
Use a mild relaxer if you are experiencing any breakage. When blow drying or straightening your hair ,use less tension  on the hair root, use products that are internationally renowned such as L’Oreal, L’Oreal products use natural ingredients that allow the hair to breathe and avoid extensive heated appliances like hot combs, irons and blowers wherever possible.
For those of you who are experiencing hair thinning, I would recommend the product called Rogaine (Minoxidil) it is clinically proven to stimulate growth by revitalizing the shrunken hair follicle, you will begin to see new growth after four months of continued daily use, however individual results may vary, not everyone responds to Rogaine.
There are a lot of products on the supermarket shelves here in Bahrain and many medications are freely available without a doctor’s prescription, I would strongly advise that you seek professional help as some products may have a more severe effect than a solution.
Until next week, may your hair be with you!
