THE setting for the official launch celebration of accessories manufacturer Coach’s first boutique in Bahrain couldn’t have been better.
Handbags from the 2007 spring collection were displayed around the beautiful circular fountain in the courtyard of La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art, Manama.
Beneath a perfect crescent moon, guests enjoyed a candle-lit preview of the new season’s collection while an international DJ provided an ambient soundtrack to the evening.
Models showcased belts, scarves and handbags at last week’s event. The courtyard provided the perfect runway to exhibit handbags from the brand’s iconic Legacy collection and the latest Ergo collection which have been spotted on the celebrity arms of actresses Demi Moore, Halle Berry and Eva Longoria.
The Coach boutique was opened in March in the new extension of Al A’ali Mall and is the brand’s biggest store in the Gulf.
Spokeswoman Smita Deans said: “We recently launched the first store in the UAE and we’re looking at Middle East expansion. Our Abu Dhabi store opened in March and a store in Dubai will open in June.”
Coach is an American brand which has expanded throughout the world. Now in its 65th year, the company has stores throughout the US, Europe, Asia and now the Middle East.
It is considered a classic part of the landscape of US design and the history behind the company is a classic American tale.
The inspiration came from a baseball glove – its distinctive markings and how supple it became with use.
After refining the design, making it softer and stronger, Coach’s first handbag was created. The bags at Al A’ali shopping mall cost up to BD250.
