Bahrain will be one of the venues to host a blockbuster stage show which the Bollywood film industry hopes will boost worldwide interest in its movies.
Members of India’s top acting dynasty Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai will star together for the first time on “The Unforgettable Tour” which kicks off in April 2008 and will stop off in 18 countries.
Bachchan senior is a living legend known as “the Big B” in India and was voted biggest screen or stage star of the millennium in a BBC poll in 1999, beating Sir Laurence Oliver and Marilyn Monroe. His son and Rai will also be joined on stage by young stars Lara Dutta and Bipasha Basu.
Amitabh Bachchan, who dreamt up the tour, told a Press conference at the International Indian Film Academy Awards in Leeds, northern England, that Indian expatriates would be keen to attend.
“The tour is our way of thanking our fans and awarding them with power-packed joint performances from the superstars of Indian cinema, thereby offering our audiences an experience to witness and relive the magic of Indian cinema in lands as far away as Switzerland, UK, the Middle East, South Africa and US amongst others,” he added.
