Abdulkarim Ahmed Mohammed Al Khawaja reached the till after a shopping trip with his family … and faced that awkward moment every parent fears.
The little one demanded a treat. It’s a tough dilemma … sometimes you say no, sometimes you give in and say, yes. Today, Abdulkarim is counting his lucky stars that his five-year-old son Mohammed, asked for that present … for it helped him win a brand new 2007 model Mitsubishi Pajero. The Bahraini businessman struck lucky at the LG showroom in Sehla which he visited to purchase a freezer and ended up buying two. He explained: “While at the cashier, my son kept insisting on buying a mini-refrigerator that cost around BD40. So I got it for him to stop him from crying.” With a total bill of BD325, little did he know that the sudden additional purchase would win him the BD11,500 car which replaces the family’s Toyota Camry. Abdulkarim, 45, loves his new mean machine, and said: “It’s an excellent car and I love driving it around. “When I bought the LG freezer, I really hoped that I would win the Pajero. However, I have no idea whether the tickets I got for the freezer or the one I received for my son’s fridge made my wish come true!” Abdulkarim, 45, a businessman, owns an abaya shop on the Shaikh Abdulla Road. The prize keys from the ‘LG Explosive Promotion’ at the LG showroom were handed over to Abdulkarim by vice-chairman of AJM Kooheji & Sons, Mahmood Kooheji. Customers have another chance to win one of the prize cars at its grand final draw on August 6. G V Rao, group marketing manager of AJM Kooheji, said: “We are extremely glad to see such positive customer response during the promotion.” Every customer who spends BD25 on a purchase of any LG product gets one entry into the draw. Apart from the second Pajero there are 98 other prizes to be won. The promotion runs until August 2.
