Lufthansa celebrates its significant presence and growth for one year on its services between Bahrain and Frankfurt.
The inaugural flight to Bahrain was launched in May 2006. With an existence of just over 12 months in the market, Lufthansa recently increased its flights from Bahrain to Frankfurt from previously three to currently four per week. Lufthansa flies every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday as departures and arrivals from and to Bahrain. Lufthansa provides a shuttle from Dammam to Bahrain offering its Dammam customers flights connecting the region with Frankfurt seven days a week. Three times from Dammam via Kuwait to Frankfurt (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) and a four times service from Bahrain. Joachim Steinbach, vice-president sales and services Southeast Europe, Africa and Middle East/ Pakistan said: “The flight increase to and from Bahrain is a great success and has created a positive impact among our passengers. “We would like to thank the Civil Aviation Affairs for their excellent support to launch the flights. “By having three flights out of Dammam and four weekly flights out of Bahrain, Lufthansa will be able to cater to the needs of its corporate travel out and to this important region. “This enhancement is to meet our customer’s wishes from Lufthansa, the German Carrier that continues its strategy of flights to the world’s oil markets and growing industries,” he added. As of July 1, Peter Pollak was appointed general manager passenger sales UAE and director Gulf and Pakistan. He assumes the responsibilities from Uwe Wriedt, who after five years in Dubai, is moving to Cologne, Germany, as director passenger sales, Lufthansa German Airlines. On all flights from Bahrain, Lufthansa offers the new Business Class which is operated by the Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A340-300. The new business class offers maximum comfort, more space, a diverse information and entertainment programme and excellent service on board. The state-of-the-art Business Class seat converts into a two metre complete flat bed. Another area of the business that has recorded encouraging growth is the PartnerPlusBenefit loyalty programme. “Lufthansa introduced the PartnerPlusBenefit programme in Bahrain towards the end of 2006, which offers additional miles to the benefit of the small and medium businesses,” said Mr Wriedt. For every Lufthansa flight taken in Economy and Business Class, the company will benefit by collecting valuable points, which can be redeemed for attractive awards. Lufthansa Miles and More, the world’s leading frequent flyer programme, continues to offer better rewards for its approximately 14 million members who registered for the promotion to redeem miles for free flights and upgrades worldwide. The promotion started in April and ends in June.
