Did you know that on a daily basis we expose ourselves to many harmful irritants -ingredients which are found in an array of products from toothpaste, body lotions, face creams, nail varnishes. bubble baths, shaving creams, shampoo, conditioners and, not forgetting, deodorants.
From being a child I have always been very aware of the products I use. This is due to suffering from very sensitive skin. Some products would often break me out in rashes or bumps so became more conscious of what I can and cannot use.
Many years ago when I was studying beauty therapy at college we covered the subject of harmful ingredients in make-up products. Over the years I have become intrigued to learn more about the various ingredients that go into other regularly used products.
One of the many worrying ingredients has to be Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, often found in over-the-counter shampoos, car degreasers, toothpastes as well as make-up. This chemical ingredient can lead to skin irritations, coughing, wheezing, nausea, vomiting and headaches which gives you something to think about when you’re washing your hair, doesn’t it.
Next week I will write about the latest new super-ingredients found in face creams that many a celebrity can not be without.

Jan Marini Eyelash conditioner is a new hot product at the minute. It claims to increase elasticity and prevent breakages now I thought it conditioned my lashes but then my lashes are long and for many years I have used a bit of good old versatile Vaseline which I think gives the same outcome.
