Bahraini Mohammed Al Zamil has won high praise from the organisers of the Dubai Summer Surprises for his innovative ideas on making the region’s most exciting summer extravaganza even bettter.

The University College of Bahrain’s senior marketing student was one of seven college and university students from across the region taking part in this year’s edition of the DSS Apprenticeship Programme, which gives them hands-on experience on how to conceptualise, organise and market such a massive event.

An evening of games, music, dance and spot prizes was held at the Indian Club, Gudaibiya, for members and their children. Dhoom Dhamaka Family Nite also featured music by a local DJ and dinner.

Batelco honoured 17 staff members from its the ‘Delivery Assurance and Access Network’ departments for their outstanding contributions during the first half of this year at a ceremony at the company’s staff centre in Hamala. Five staff members were presented with Quarterly Star awards, nine with Loyalty Programme awards and three with Academic Qualification awards. Chief executive Peter Kaliaropoulos and senior management attended.

The British Council Bahrain hosted a two-week teacher training course at its premises on Shaikh Salman Highway. The course is the Young Learner extension to the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults, which is an internationally recognised qualification.
