Day of glory for Mike’s team
Mike Eastwood led his team – consisting of John Sutcliffe, Jonty Crosse and Richard Duncan – to victory in Riffa Golf Club’s second Summer Team Alliance Competition with the team score of 89 points winning on count countback.
The team of Andrew Nelson, Dave Cantrell, Don Warren and Bill Rackets from Derelicts Group came second with a score of also 89 points. Side contests in the progressive stableford event were won by Todd Gillespie and Robert Craquelin.
Al Aali bag title
AHMED Mansoor Al Aali were crowned champions of the 14th Industrial Volleyball Tournament after defeating three-time champions Asry 21-8, 21-17 in the final match held at the Marina Coast grounds near Al Fateh Mosque.
Al Aali, who came second in last year’s edition cup, put up a spirited performance and won all their matches in this nine-team tournament.
The one-day competition, sponsored by Asry, saw the teams split into two group with Group ‘A’ comprising last year’s winners Interior Ministry, Garmco, Bapco and GPIC.
Taekwondo event
BAHRAIN’s national under-21 taekwondo team has travelled to Jordan for the Asian Championship which got underway this week in Amman.
Forty countries are taking part in this prestigious week-long competition, including South Korea, Iran, China, Taipei, Thailand and Japan.
