Krazy Kevin

Hiya everybody!  Upon my return from holidays last Saturday, boy, did I have a rude awakening.  From the very next morning I was straight back into my usual hectic life, which is tiring but never boring.

On Sunday night I MC’d for the Karl Wolf concert at the Gulf Hotel.  I’d been asked by the gang at Party People to compere the show and, of course, asked what date it was on.  Adel answered “the 3rd day of Eid”.  I checked my diary (which had never yet failed me) and thought “Yep, great, that’s a couple of days after we get back”.

So, my wife Wendy, daughter Hannah, and I came back from holidays on Saturday night thinking the concert would be on Monday.  But no, it was the next day.

That morning I got up at 5am to do the breakfast show on the radio. Afterwards, I went to a Press Conference with Karl. It was the first time I’d met him and he was a great guy.  Somebody asked “what happens if you turn up tonight and there are only 10 people?”  He answered that he “would give those ten people the best night of their lives!”

A true professional.

That night DJ Crow gave a great performance of R‘n’B music. Next up was DJ Jackson and then it was time for Karl Wolf. I introduced him on to the stage and he rocked the crowd for over an hour. He played all his hits and jumped and danced all over. When Karl sang his last song the crowd chanted for more. Too soon, it was all over.

I got to bed that ‘night’ at 2am and was up again at 5am for the breakfast show. Thank goodness for coffee! 

I’d arranged to get a camera down to the Riviera Palace Hotel the next day (where Karl was staying) to film a ‘60 second interview’ before he left Bahrain. It was an interview with a difference (a challenge). 

His ‘challenge’ was to bounce a basketball whilst simultaneously answering my questions! 

It was great fun and you can watch it all on my new TV Show; ‘Music Mania’ on Channel 55 every Sunday and Wednesday night at 7.30pm.

The next day we filmed the remainder of the show down at the Bahrain International Circuit, opening with me getting out of a V8 Australian Super Car and with various shoots from all around this amazing facility.

The following few days were somewhat less demanding and I got my energy back.

On Friday, my family and I had a lovely family day out at Riffa Views at the special Picnic in the Park event.  There were lots of activities going on, including Hannah’s favourite; pony rides!  There were also camel rides and a falcon, and Scott and Chris (from Riffa Golf Club) taught the kids how to play golf.  There was a Marquee with displays from various organisations connected with Riffa Views and great food served by my good mate Dominic Miles.  (Who looked a little stressed as the crowd was a bit larger than anticipated and would you believe it people were having a hearty meal and then going back for more to ‘take away’) It was a great afternoon and you could even take a Hummer ride around some of the areas being constructed.  I’d especially like to give a big thank you to Hugh  who found Hannah a lovely teddy bear to share her picnic with – you made her day.

The only bad thing about the day was when Hannah came running up to me bawling her eyes out. I asked what the matter was, and she replied that she’d been told off for playing in one of the bunkers with a rake.

She had been really enjoying herself (I think maybe she’ll be a gardener when she grows up) and Luke Browning (son of Richard the GM) told her “my dad said don’t play with the rake because it’s dangerous.” 

But all was not lost. Richard came to Hannah and told her that she could come round to his house and use his rake anytime. On the way home Hannah and her friend Connor talked about nothing else. 

So Richard, Hannah has taken you at your word and is waiting for that date’!
