One of Australia’s favourite coffee houses, the Dôme Café this week opened its doors to food lovers in Bahrain.

The opening is the brainchild of three young Bahraini businessmen – Mohammed Almoayyed, director of Almoayyed International Group along with his friends Hamad Al Khalifa and Ali Jawaheri.

The café is situated comfortably in the warmth of Juffair, at the Almoayyed Plaza.

The Dôme’s menu boasts 14 categories of food and beverages including snacks, sandwiches and main courses alongside a variety of coffees and chais (tea), fruit smoothies, iced drinks and granitas.

Fresh salads, soups, all-day-breakfasts, pastas, wraps, snacks, cookies, biscuits, cakes and chocolates are also likely to prove popular.

Farooq Almoayyed, chairman of franchise-holder Almoayyed International Group, said: “This café concentrates highly on the young members of the society and it is a perfect family-oriented eating place.”

Operating in Australia since 1989, throughout Asia since 1993 and with a current strong expansion into the Middle East, Dôme Coffees now has operations in Singapore, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines and Bahrain with close to 100 locations in 10 countries to be completed by the end of 2007.

Joe Tallarida, operational manager, added: “We wish to make Bahrain the flagship for the rest of the Middle East. We are in talks about opening a branch in the Bahrain World Trade Centre and in Saar.”

The company is also looking forward to setting up shop in Qatar.
