Wednesday (Nov 28)¥ Second day of the St Christopher's Senior School Production which ends tomorrow. A strong cast of around 30 students will enact the Black Remote by Glyn Maxwell which is a modern retelling of the myth of Pandora's Box. The heroes - Polly and Norman - are thrown into a world that transforms and regenerates when they touch the forbidden black remote and three winged creatures - Glimmer, Leach and Nono appear. ¥ 'Bootleg Abba' makes their debut performance in Bahrain at JJ's Irish Restaurant and Pub in the Al Bsstan Hotel in Adliya. The Abba tribute act was formed in 1996 to recreate the live recordings of the famous music band. Doors open at 8pm and show starts at 9.30pm. Cover charge for the event is BD3. ¥ 'Get Reel' will perform at the Dilmun Club in Saar. The band consists of seven musicians including Miriam Morrissey (vocals, manager), Joyce Riley (violinist), Geraint Hughes (whistle/recorder/harp), David Fuglie (acoustic guitar, vocals), Patrick Caulfield, (accordian, vocals and Irish traditional dancer), Mark McFarlane (bass, backup soundman) and Mark Wootton (drums). Five of the seven members all work for Saudi Aramco, Dhahran, KSA. Get Reel play a variety of styles of music from Irish traditional Celtic music mixing old traditional sounds with a current tempo and rhythm, Bluegrass, Cajun, Country and Contemporary to name but a few. Get Reel have also been invited to participate in the Qatar bid for the 2016 Olympics. The event will also include a performance by all expatriate women dance group 'DesertDance'. ¥ A Caribbean-theme party will mark the 17th anniversary of the Sampaguita Club and Restaurant at the Moon Plaza Hotel in Umm Al Hassam. ¥ Three top Filipino artists are set to perform at the Kumustahan 2007 event at the Delmon Hotel Poolside in Manama on Thursday. 'Pops Fernandez', Erik Santos and K Brosas are set to entertain the guests. All three artists will have their own segment culminating in a special Christmas number. Albert Gayo will host part of the concert and contestants for Mr Pogi International 2007 will be presented as well. Part of the proceeds from the concert will be donated to distressed workers of OWWA at Philippines Embassy.

¥ The Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) in association with the Soorya - Bahrain chapter is set to stage the Rhythm Nite 2007 at the Indian School in Isa Town from 7.30pm.
Directed by Soorya Krishnamoorthy, the show will feature contemporary Indian dance and drama theatre troupe Samudra and seven-member music group Trisakthi as well as a list of playback singers. ¥ The Filipino Club Sayaw Unlimited in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy is hosting a Sige Baile! Salsa and Latin charity dance project on Friday at the Baan Saeng Thai Auditorium in Adilya.
Proceedings of the event will be passed on to FCSU's "Pasko sa OWWA Charity Fund Drive" for the distressed Filipino workers and for a Bahrain charitable institution. The event will also have a buffet and a raffle draw.

¥ Pakistan Women's Association (PWA) is holding its annual 'mela' (fair) at the Pakistan School in Isa Town from 11am to 8 pm. Activities include vendors selling items ranging from handicrafts, clothes, jewellery, gift items, fun games for children, face painting, lucky dip, bouncy castle, photography corner and food stalls by well-known Pakistani restaurants. One of the main attractions of the mela includes a six-a-side cricket tournament. There will also be a live performance by Pakistani rock band Hysteria. Tickets are priced at 300 fils. ¥ Renowned Syrian artist Nazir Nabaa will showcase his paintings at the Albareh Art Gallery in Adliya from December 4. Nazir studied painting in Cairo from 1959 to 1964 and then in Paris between 1971 and 1974. With an impressive record of solo exhibitions all over Europe and the Middle East, this exhibition will be one of his most important exhibitions. It runs until December 20. Manama Singers on song for festivities
The Manama Singers Carol concert traditionally launches the festive season on the island and is eagerly awaited by all who celebrate the season.
This year Christmas will be welcomed in with carols, old and new, on December 7 at the Golden Tulip Hotel.
The choir will sing at two performances, 5pm specifically oriented at families and 8pm for the more mature listener.
A collection of carols will include many old favourites such as Deck the Hall, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Jingle Bells and an exciting collection of new carols will also be sung including a Korean Folk song, a Christmas spiritual and a Cowboy Carol.
To add to the celebratory mood and to trumpet in the season a brass quartet will accompany the choir of 60.
The 'Big Man in Red' will make an appearance at the 5pm concert and will hand out treats to the little ones.
