BankMuscat International (BMI) announced the appointment of Huw Evens as risk director.
"Mr Evens brings to BMI extensive experience of building systems, teams and approaches across all elements of Risk management.
"As BMI continues to grow in Bahrain and elsewhere, Mr Evens' experience will ensure that we do this from a strong base with robust foundations," said Andrew Bainbridge, chief executive officer of BMI.
Mr Evens brings with him 27 years of banking experience, having worked in the UK, US and South Africa.
Prior to joining BMI, he was responsible for all aspects of enterprise-wide risk across Barclays in sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian ocean.
As chief credit officer for Barclays Africa & Middle East, he led the creation and implementation of wholesale and retail credit policies, systems, procedures and oversight in the 12 countries.
