A TREE will be planted in each of the schools participating in the Riffa Views Eden Challenge competition, officials have announced.
A tree will also be planted in a special Education Grove within Riffa Views Signature Estates.
As part of the Riffa Views Eden Challenge Tree Planting Initiative, each school will also receive a commemorative plaque.
"Each tree will become an enduring reminder of the dedication and hard work of all the pupils who were involved in the Eden Challenge," said Riffa Views chief executive officer Richard Browning.
The competition is divided into five categories: primary (10 to 12-years-old); intermediate (13 to 15-years-old); secondary (16 to 18-years-old); junior primary (six to nine-years-old); and special needs (all ages).
Mr Browning announced the winning entries for three of the five relevant categories in the competition, which are as follows:
Primary: Al Iman School - Girls (Maha Gazal) and Arabian Pearl Gulf School (Emily Buzon and Rayesha Jea Laput).
Intermediate: Umm Salama Girls Intermediate School (Layla Mohmaed Sha'er)
Secondary: Al Naseem International School (Rula Al Ubaidi) and Hamad Town Secondary Girls School (Fadwa Julal Ali).
Highly Commended:
Primary: Al Khamees Primary Boys School (Rasool Al Sabbagh and Yousif Al Aradi) and Um Al Qura Girls Primary Intermediate School (Noof Esbai).
Intermediate: Um Al Qura Girls Primary Intermediate School (Noof Esbai) and Arabian Pearl Gulf School (Emily M. Buzon and Rayesha Jea Laput).
Secondary: Umaima bint Al Noman Secondary Girls School (Zakiya Jassim).
The winning projects will be built and displayed at the Riffa Views' Schools stand during the Riffa Views Bahrain International Garden Show (RVBIGS) to be held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre from February 22 to 24.
The event is organised by the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad and support of his wife and chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women, Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.
The joint winners in the primary category will be transformed into floral mosaics. The centrepiece of the stand will be the winning sculpture from the intermediate category.
The joint secondary category's winning designs will be transformed into real garden settings.
"As part of our commitment to the RVBIGS 2008 we want to get as many people involved in the show as possible and in particular the school children," said Mr Browning.
