They're not so Spicy anymore

IT seems that no one can make their minds up about why the Spice Girls reunion tour was cut short.

First we heard it was because of poor ticket sales and then we were told that the two Mels wanted out.

After that they said it was because Victoria was missing her family and after that we were told it was due to all the girls having different family commitments they needed to get back to. The latest reason given is that Victoria 'Posh Spice' Beckham and Geri 'Ginger Spice' have had a falling out.

Why? Because apparently single Geri thought that Victoria was being 'insensitive' and boasting about her wonderful supportive husband, David Beckham.

According to a source speaking to Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "The other girls turned to their partners during the emotional and exhausting tour but Geri had nobody.

"She felt Victoria was really insensitive to her isolation. She makes sarcastic comments under her breath to wind Geri up, so it looks like Geri is being unreasonable.

"Victoria is also constantly going on about David and how lucky she is to have such a great partner, unlike Geri who is a single mum."

Quite frankly it all sounds like a lot of hogwash to me and whatever the truth of the matter, the whole thing has been dealt with really unprofessionally. The Spice Girls ceased to be the Spice girls 10 years ago and that's the way it should have stayed.

The whole basis of their popularity in the first place was their individuality. They brought us 'girl power' and they showed independence that many girls wanted to emulate.

Let's face it; it's not as if they were super talented singers and musicians.

It was what they stood for that really made them the sensations they became, but since then they have all moved on with their lives. They've got married or had babies or tried to pursue different careers for themselves. In short, they've grown up and trying to bring back their former glory was, in my opinion, always destined to be a flop.

Still, they made the decision to get back together and do their thing and they should have kept to the commitment they made to their fans.

They had a duty to be professional and worthy of the huge amounts of money they have been paid to get back together again. They knew they had families and commitments and they knew they might not get on with each other the whole time but when you go to the world's press and commit to doing something, you better make sure you follow through with your promise to the end.

In the end, the Spice Girls will now be remembered more for their panned performances and canceling the last few legs of their comeback tour than they will be for being one of the biggest girl bands to ever walk the earth.

Well done ladies, it looks like you've done nothing but ruin the reputation you'd built for yourselves!
