The show centres on the life of renowned neonatal surgeon Addison Montgomery played by Kate Walsh. It's been two years since Addison Forbes Montgomery arrived in the Emerald City to shake things up at Seattle Grace.
Following a failed attempt at reconciliation with her ex-husband Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd and two disastrous affairs with medical intern Alex and her ex-boyfriend Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, Addison moves to Santa Monica, California for sunnier weather and happier possibilities.
There, she reunites with friends from medical school, joining them at their chic co-op, Oceanside Wellness Centre. Addison soon discovers that the entire staff has their own life issues; the sexy alternative medicine doc who has one-night stands; the gynaecologist who doesn't know a thing about women; and the therapist who doubts she's doing any good at all. Fortunately, the doctors are dedicated pros; it's their private lives that need a little practice.
