wednesday (Feb 27)80th Annual Academy Awards on Star Movies at 7pm

It's time for Oscar-mania! The biggest celebrity event in showbiz, the prestigious Academy Awards recognise the year's best achievements in film. The event kicks off with a pre-show special. As the stars head into the Kodak Theatre, pundits will be weighing in on the outfits, nominees and hot favourites. Look out for Hollywood's biggest stars, directors and celebrities as they grace the red carpet and hand out the coveted awards to deserving winners.

THURSDAY (Feb 28)

Documentary - I Didn't Know That on NGC at 10pm

In this episode, the big story is Milk. British cows produce 14 billion litres of the stuff every year. In Testing Testing, there are roughly 300,000 public playgrounds for the UK's 12 million children to play on and every piece of equipment in each of those has to be annually tested. In Cutaway, Jonny fires up his angle grinder to slice open a bagless vacuum cleaner. In Production Line we go to a medical laboratory in Blackpool to see how they've been making artificial eyeballs since the First World War.

Series - Blood Ties (Season 1) on Star World at 10pm

Based on the best-selling novels by Tanya Huff, Blood Ties pumps up the action with its mix of supernatural suspense and fantasy-filled romance. Vicki Nelson is an ex-cop who left the force after she was diagnosed with a degenerative disease that effects her eyesight. Now working as a private investigator, she is hired to solve the murder of a young man who was found drained of blood. Vicki's investigations bring her in contact with a 450-year-old vampire named Henry Fitzroy.

SATURDAY (Mar 1)

Film - Doctor Dolittle 3 on Super Movies at 9pm

Kyla Platt stars as Maya, Doctor Dolittle's daughter, who has grown into a teenager and part-time veterinary assistant who has inherited her father's ability to talk to animals. Always getting into trouble with her mother, she is sent to a dude ranch to find herself and tries to secretly help the animals to avoid the ranch being taken over by a neighbouring ranch.

SUNDAY (Mar 2)

Film - Walking Tall on Star Movies at 8.30pm

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays Chris Vaughn, a man who returns to his boyhood home after pursuing a decorated career in the US Armed Forces, only to find it ravaged by poverty and corruption. Jay Hamilton, Chris's high school rival, is the robber baron of Ferguson, Washington. His wealth and influence have allowed him to open a casino. Chris decides to run for sheriff and rid his hometown of crime with the law as his main weapon. With his best friend Ray Templeton as his deputy, he sets out to clean up the mess.

Cookery - Tony and Giorgio on BBC Prime at 7.30pm

One of Britain's most influential restaurateurs, Tony Allan, and arguably Britain's most famous Italian chef, Giorgio Locatelli, know their food, and with over 30 years of experience between them at the top end of restaurant cooking they know how to make it easy and taste fantastic. Join them as episode by episode they touch on different concerns and, despite their constant good-humoured bickering, show you how simple and pleasurable cooking can really be.

TUESDAY (Mar 4)

Film - The Rundown on Super Movies at 9pm

The Rock stars as Beck - a bounty killer that stops at nothing to locate what he has been hired to find. His last task before retiring is to find Travis (Sean William Scott), the boss' son who doesn't want to be found. Dragging Travis back is no mean feat and during their adventure the two take a wild ride through the Amazon as they battle a jungle overlord (Christopher Walken), a band of whip-wielding band guys and a beautiful bartender with attitude (Rosario Dawson). Fun action comedy for all the family.
