Bank of Baroda, one of India's leading international banks, this week opened its 71st international office in Manama.

The bank now has a presence in 25 countries including all international financial centres such as London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and Johannesburg.

The 'wholesale' branch was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador Balkrishna Shetty alongside Dr Anwar Al Sadah, deputy governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain.

Ashok Gupta, chief executive GCC operations, Bank of Baroda, said: "With Bahrain we have now covered all the financial centres of the world. The bank is now focusing in the GCC region because of its high growth rate."

The new branch will offer a wide range of services to "corporate customers and high net worth individuals" including deposits in all major currencies, short term/long term loans and working capital finance, syndicated loans and project finance, international trade finance and structured products and private banking and wealth management services.
