Volkswagen Middle East recently presented its new compact Sports Utility Vehicle, the Tiguan, in a regional launch in the magnificent landscapes of Jordan where more than 60 mediapersons from around the region discovered first-hand the capabilities and characteristics of the Tiguan.

The two-day event included both on-road and off-road test drives amidst some of the most spectacular scenery all whilst experiencing the car's dynamic properties, premium comfort and high-level of active safety.

The test drive kicked off on-road in central Amman with a drive through the city.

This was followed by a challenging off-road leg through the first phase of the Jordan Rally beside the Dead Sea where the terrains were rocky and steep and provided a staggering number of narrow twists and turns on-route boasting the sophisticated technologies of the Tiguan in its full diversity and glory.

The end of the off-road route took drivers to the top of Dead Sea Mountain where they were treated to a beautiful panoramic view of the area.

More on and off-road test drives of the Tiguan were carried out throughout the day and concluded at the Mšvenpick Hotel Dead Sea where the media were able to relax after a fun-filled day of adventure in the hotel's spa facilities and were provided the opportunity to swim in the Dead Sea.

Hans-Dieter Keller, managing director of Volkswagen Middle East, said: "The Tiguan is our biggest launch for the region this year. It is the first time Volkswagen has entered the compact Sports Utility Vehicle segment which makes this a very special launch for us. So far the Tiguan has attracted an enormous amount of interest worldwide and we're confident it will generate the same in this region.

"Jordan offers the perfect setting for the regional launch of the Tiguan as it provides us with the opportunity to showcase the car's capabilities on-road and off-road in different terrains amongst some amazing scenery."

One of the main characteristic of the Tiguan is its versatility. It is recommended for drivers who enjoy the individual appearance and flexibility of a SUV but also expect a premium level of comfort, agility and variability.

The chassis of the Tiguan sets new standards in the world of SUVs as it is extremely driving-active and safe.

For the first time on the global SUV market all engines are charged without exception, which deliver powerful propulsion just above the idling speed.

Upon request, the Tiguan can be parked nearly automatically in the urban jungle by the Park Assist feature.

Off-road, on the other hand, the latest radio-navigation system (RNS 510) navigates its occupants back to civilisation using its off-road function.
