Wednesday (June 11)¥ Alliance Francaise is hosting the Wadj Concert - an evening of poetry and musical expressions - at the Ibrahim Al Arrayed Poetry House. The performers are pianist and composer Ghaiss Jasser, singer Naziha Meftah and poet Khaled Roumo. Songs will be sung in Arabic or French accompanied by the piano with an original music composed by Ghaiss Jasser. The concert is free but due to limited seating, guests must book in advance. The Embassy of the Philippines, in association with the Bahrain Basketball Association, will hold a hyper-hoops youth summer basketball clinic at the Basketball Gym in the Muharraq Club. ¥ Indian classical music concert - Swaralaya Carnatic will be held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers, Juffair. The event will feature a performance by vocalist Sikkil Gurucharan and is being organised by Bahrain-based culture group, The Folk Theatre.
Mr Gurucharan, an award-winning rising star of the Indian classical music scene, will be accompanied by Sanjeev Venkataraman on violin and mridangam player Varadarajan V.

Friday (June 13)
¥ The Manama Singers and Bahrain Sinfonia are set to welcome the Viva Opera! - a gala evening of music and songs at the Gulf International Convention Centre in Adliya.
The event will feature music of Bizet's Carmen, choruses from Verdi's La Traviata and Borodin's Polovtsian Dances from his opera Prince Igor.
The Manama Singers will welcome singers from Dubai, Oman, Riyadh and Dhahran to make up a choir of over 80 singers.
Joining the choir will be former English National Opera (ENO) soprano soloist Kerry Boyle.
Tenor Clifford Lister who had debuted with the Manama Singers in 2006 will also accompany the choir singing the solo tenor roles.
The event will also feature a children's choir, Alexander Borodin's Polovtsian Dances from his opera Prince Igor and a full orchestra conducted by Alistair Auld.

¥ A Jazz brunch is set to take place at the Upstairs Downstairs Restaurant in Adliya and to raise money for schools in Pakistan. It is being hosted by Bahrain resident Dr Sarah Clarke, who is planning to raise a minimum of BD2,000 as a participant in a trek in Jordan for The Citizens Foundation (TCF), a non-profit organisation in Pakistan that builds primary and secondary schools in rural and slum areas.
