Bahraini designer Walla Al Alawi has launched a new collection and set up her own store in the kingdom.

Her new designs are available exclusively through her Celebrity Corner retail outlet in Al A'ali Mall and she says she is excited by her new venture and plans to open six more within the next two years.

Walla, 27, from Budaiya, said: "With this collection and the launch of my first retail outlet, I plan to bring beauty to life, that's why every garment is a hand-worked, cutting-edge, limited piece.

"My clothes are inspired by the modern Arabic woman who appreciates fashion but more than that, has her own sense of style and self-confidence. The clothes reflect our needs and sensibilities - featuring delicate details, the finest embroidery and only the most flattering of cuts."

The former Ibn Khuldoon National School pupil has retained her trademark distinctive design style by using only the very highest quality fabrics and production techniques.

Celebrity Corner showcases Walla's unique interpretation of the modern Arabic woman's wardrobe to stunning effect with modern silhouettes, delicate embroidery, dazzling beadwork, the finest silk, lace, chiffon and cotton, each embellished with glistening crystals and sparkling sequins.

In Walla's new collection, feathers appear on fringing and collars, aiming to harness natural beauty and softness. Animal magnetism is captured in leopard and tiger prints and given a new twist with dramatic beading and jewel-work. Quilting is used to strong effect, with a new take on the essential trench central to the collection.

Sunshine shades dominate; custard yellows collide with gold, bronze and metallic shades. Precision use of stand-out pinks, green and blues add cut through - for visible confidence.

Soft and feminine draping works in harmony with precision tailoring. Paisley prints, feminine fabrics, and beautiful brocades adorn suits, coats, wraps and skirts.

Walla's designing prowess first came to the fore with her signature range which was launched at Dubai Fashion Show in 2001.

Since then she has been specialising in designing exclusive abayas, women's ready-to-wear clothing and accessories.

Walla has aimed to blend Arabic and Western cultures. Her reputation has spread rapidly throughout the Gulf and attracts many members of royal families to her designs. Thus far, her immense success has been concentrated in the region; however, she sees a great opportunity for international growth.

Walla is currently exploring this venture and is confident that her exclusive fashion collection in the global market will be another successful accomplishment.
