Bahrain's charity champion Yvonne Trueman is taking her aid initiative - 'children for children' from strength to strength by bringing together two infant pre-schools from Bahrain and the Cayman Islands to help youngsters at the Dorothy Menzies Child Care Home in Belize.

Mrs Trueman made a detour to the Cayman Islands on her way to Belize to help set up the joint venture. At the care home she handed out solar calculators, toothbrushes, lollipops, balloons, crayons, transfer stickers to 48 needy children. Funds raised by Little Gems School pupils in Saar and the Cubs Association of St Christopher's Junior School will go towards running the centre and replacing damaged items.

A Little Gems School drawing book presented to the children included an invitation to them to write back as pen-pals.

On returning to Bahrain, Yvonne now wants to continue raising money in support of restarting the bi-annual weekend outings at the home which stopped because of a lack of funds. The initiative would have an annual expense of around BD754 - towards the cost of hiring a small mini-coach to take 10 children and a helper.
