Friday (September 19)St Christopher's School is hosting a series of subscription concerts with an opening by world-renowned baritone Howard Wong today. He studied with Benjamin Luxon and has since won many international competitions, taught at various singing conventions and championed English music world wide.

Howard will be singing a variety of songs by Vaughn Williams, this year being the 50th anniversary of his death, and others.

He will be accompanied by David Willison.

Howard's recital will be followed by five more concerts over the academic year including a violin recital, a quartet who have performed internationally to great acclaim, a chamber orchestra which will perform an exciting mix of Baroque and more modern music, a flute recital and a pianist who is one of the moderators for the Associated Board examining system.

Tickets are priced at BD30 for all six concerts or BD8 at the door.

The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) will host a grand feast to celebrate Indian harvest festival, Onam. A chef has been flown in from Kerala for the special occasion. The feast which will be at 8pm will feature over 30 items and is free. For details contact Saju Kumar on 36358257.

The Axis of Evil comedy tour will make its debut Bahrain performance on the second and third day of Eid. The two-day run is expected to attract more than 2,000 fans and will be held at the Al Ahli Club, Zinj. Comedians Ahmed Ahmed and Maz Jobrani will headline the event which is being organised by Bahrain-based SJ Media Group. The three-hour shows will also feature performances by local comedy artists, acts from around the Middle East and a live band as opener. The Axis of Evil tour has performed across the US in addition to sell out shows in Dubai, Kuwait and Jordan. Ticket prices, show timings and other information will be announced closer to the event. Elham to unveil third season

Bahrain's creative society Elham will launch its third season at the Albareh Gallery on September 23.

The schedule consists of a screening of digital artworks by graphic designer, artist, photographer, writer and DJ Fawaz Alolaiwat, who will also be performing.

Fawaz is a visual-communications graduate from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, USA, and believes in 'nu-digital age' to express his experiences, dreams, hopes and imaginings creatively.

Writer Yacoub Salman Al-Slaise will conduct a reading. He began his writing life aged 10 when he penned his first detective story - 'The adventures of Inspector Yak: in search of the missing Shampoodle'. Alongside training teachers, he blogs and writes short stories about 'the little things in daily Bahraini life that nobody notices'.

This will be followed by a screening of a short movie 'Woken Shell', shot by former Indian School student Vijesh Rajan. He has completed his Masters in Film and Television production at the Griffith Film School in the University of Queensland, Australia.

Woken Shell is a symbolic analysis of a man's journey towards self-realisation.

It deals with issues like the perception of society at large and one's ever-changing emotions and the realisation that sometimes, with blind faith, miracles can happen.

His filmography includes Chaplin DŽjˆ vu, Fallen, The Waiting and Father's Day.

The upcoming session will take place at 8.30pm at Albareh Gallery in Adliya.

Studio Ceramics is hosting a series of pottery classes for adults and children to give pottery enthusiasts the chance to practice new techniques and try out new products and make their own 'masterpieces'.

The 'Desperate Housewives' class comes in four parts with the first part, 'Pitcher Perfect', which will take place from September 17 to 22 from 9am to 1pm at Studio Ceramics on Budaiya Highway.

The classes will give pottery-makers the opportunity to perform masking and brushwork.

Cost is BD35 including all bisque materials and finishing.

The studio is also offering a Creative Ceramics session for children each Saturday or Sunday over three weeks from September 20 to October 12. Children can learn the tricks of creating their own 'pottery person' using a bowl, mug or plate. Each child's complete 'Pottery Person Individual Masterpiece' will be glazed, fired and ready for collection on or after October 15. Cost is BD45 and will include all bisque materials, tuition and refreshments.
