Wednesday (Sept 24)Film - Miracle on 34th Street on Star Movies at 8.30pm.

This 1947 holiday classic is transplanted to the 1990s. Neither Macy's executive Dorey Walker (Elizabeth Perkins) nor her young daughter Susan (Mara Wilson) believes in the spirit of Christmas. Dorey is in charge of hiring Macy's Santas, including an old man named Kriss Kringle (Richard Attenborough). He does a remarkably convincing job, and he soon reveals that he actually believes himself to be Santa Claus. The authorities threaten to place the old man in an asylum, but a young lawyer comes to his defence.

Film - Gone in 60 Seconds on Star Movies at 8.30pm.

The number of car thefts in Long Beach, California, dropped 47 per cent after expert car thief Randall "Memphis" Raines (Nicolas Cage) retired from the business. But now his younger brother Kip is involved with the mob and criminal kingpin Raymond Calitri has threatened to kill Kip unless Randall can steal 50 exotic cars and have them on a container ship by 8am Friday morning. With the mafia on his tail, and the police breathing down his neck, Memphis reassembles his old crew and attempts to pull off the impossible.

FRIDAY (Sept 26)

Film - Sunshine on Star Movies at 8.30pm.

It is the year 2057, the Sun is dying and mankind faces extinction. Earth's last hope lies with the Icarus II, a spacecraft with an eight-person crew led by Captain Kaneda. Their mission: to deliver a nuclear device designed to reignite the fading sun. Deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, the crew hears a distress call from the Icarus I, which disappeared on the same mission seven years earlier. A terrible accident throws their mission into jeopardy and soon the crew find themselves fighting not only for their lives and their sanity, but for the Earth's future.

SATURDAY (Sept 27)

Film - Mister Johnson on Star Movies at 8.30pm.

Based on the novel by Joyce Carey, Mister Johnson is the story of a black man (Maynard Eziashi) in 1923 West Africa who tries to gain friendship and influence with the white residents. Working for British administrator Harry Rudbeck (Pierce Brosnan), Johnson juggles the finances so that Rudbeck can fulfil his own dream of a great northern road. When the plan is uncovered, Johnson is fired and he struggles to rebuild his reputation.

SUNDAY (Sept 28)

Documentary - Adventure Wanted: Bullriding on NGA at 2.30pm.

Adventure Wanted is a series of hour-long epic adventures set in the most remote, bizarre and unexplored corners of the planet. Renowned adventurer Joby Ogwyn takes us with him to new and exciting locations, ready to handle the wildest action packed athletic endeavours the world can throw at him. Ogwyn visits the old, rugged cowboy territory of Cody, Wyoming with hopes of achieving the ultimate rodeo goal: holding on for the mythical eight seconds atop the back of an angry bull.

MONDAY (Sept 29)

Long Way Down: Malawi to Botswana on NGC at 2.30pm.

Excited for a day of biking alongside his wife, Ewan begins his second day of riding in Malawi with Eve and Charley. Stopping at a lodge to relax, Ewan has another surprise visitor in Malawi, after his mother flies down to greet him. Setting up camp for the night beside a local tribe, the team shares a camp fire and baked beans with sausages alongside local tribesmen. Visiting a local crocodile farm, the boys get up close and personal with an albino croc.

TUESDAY (Sept 30)

Film - Judge Dredd on Star Movies at 8.30pm.

Judge Dredd depicts a nightmarish future in which overcrowded cities are policed by law officers who act as judge, jury, and executioner. Sylvester Stallone stars as Judge Dredd, a by-the-book cop with an unswerving dedication to law and order. But when he's framed for murder, Dredd winds up in prison. Determined to find out who is behind the crime, he teams up with fellow lawmakers to clear his name and stop the bad guys.
