Dear Stan, You may recall that a few months ago GulfWeekly did a fabulous article on the Sounds Great Acapella workshops for adults; the good news is that, due to popular demand, a new round of workshops will start from this coming Monday.

These fresh and fun workshops teach singers (ages 18+) of all abilities - from the lonely shower singer to the experienced chorister - to sing with healthy vocal techniques in harmony while learning songs in funky styles ranging from pop to African, rock to gospel. Workshops will be in Juffair from 7.30-9pm.

To enrol please email soundsgreat@lycos.com

Dear Stan,

Just to say thank you very much for the fabulous Elham coverage once again in GulfWeekly.

It looked great and helped to make it a very well attended season.

Melissa van Maasdyk,

Dear Stan,

The Art of Living (AOL) urges residents of Bahrain to join the worldwide campaign 'Mission Green Earth'.

The vision: a healthy, progressive society which has a rich environmental resource for the present and future generations

The path: participation of 100 million people globally.

The way: Stand up against poverty for two minutes between October 17-19 and show a commitment towards achieving a poverty-free society.

Take Action by planting trees and ensure the realisation of the 7th Millennium Development Goal.

The aim of the campaign is to ensure environment sustainability.

The AOL in collaboration with the United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has kicked off a move to plant 100 million trees worldwide.

The aim of the campaign is to ensure environment sustainability. As part of this global initiative, the local chapter of the Art of Living is making a 'Call for Action' to all citizens of Bahrain to fully engage in this noble effort of greening the planet.

The importance of planting trees today cannot be emphasised more.

Combating global warming, reducing pollution, improving the quality of soil and air and replenishing ground water are imperatives that each individual needs to take responsibility for and act upon immediately.

Trees provide succour in harsh and arid landscapes, hold the soil together, and are a means of sustenance for many.

Converting vast areas of barren wasteland into fertile green lands will not only help maintain the environment but also yield products of great medicinal and economic value if planted thoughtfully.

This is a call for everyone in the kingdom to participate - family members, volunteers, teachers, students, government staff, corporate sector and bankers among others.

But with a caution that the job is not over just by planting - nurturing the plant for the first three to four months will be much more important and critical for survival of the plant.

Those interested in participating may contact Pankaj Nallur on 39653007 or Ramya Gopal on 36641677 or email mgesuta08bahrain@gmail. com.
