QPR boss Iain Dowie will have to use all his bouncebackability prowess to ensure QPR get back to winning ways after seeing his side suffer a hangover from midweek cup glory.

Derby earned their first away success of the season on Saturday thanks to goals from Martin Albrechtsen and Emanuel Villa as they ended QPR's 100 per cent home record.

The home side almost opened the scoring through Dexter Blackstock but were denied by a save from Roy Carroll and QPR's Emmanuel Ledesma saw his deflected strike hit the post.

Derby took the lead 11 minutes from time when Albrechtsen rifled home a clinical left-foot finish before Villa headed in Steven Davies' cross.

Boss Dowie said: "When we did pass the ball well we created the best chance of the game and had that gone in, the game could have been different.

"This result hasn't changed the way I feel. I still believe we've got a good bunch of lads here and they can bounce back. Sometimes you just have to take things on the chin."

It was all so different a few days earlier when QPR beat Premiership high-fliers Aston Villa 1-0 away in the Carling Cup. The club's reward is an away fixture against mighty Manchester United in the fourth round to be played next month.
