Durrat Marina, the region's first mixed use marina development, has been awarded the CNBC Arabian Property Award 2008, as the 'Best Marina Development'.

The development, which is the first of its kind in the kingdom, received the only five star award for a Bahrain-based project in the history of the awards.

The award will allow Durrat Marina to be nominated for the international property award.

The award was received by Jassim Al Jowdar, member of the executive committee for Durrat Marina, at a gala dinner held in Dubai.

"This award confirms that Durrat Marina is the leading marina in the region... with the modern architecture and unique facilities Durrat Marina will offer, it will be an attractive investment considering the low risks involved,'' said Ahmed Al Qattan, head of the executive committee for Durrat Marina.

Mr Al Jowdar added: "We are proud to have the rating of five star as the best marina development in such a prestigious award, Durrat Marina will continue to attract investors due to the uniqueness of the project."

The multi-billion dollar project will cater for over 3,000 residences consisting of waterfront villas, town houses, apartments, and commercial and recreational facilities. The marina will be designed to accommodate over 300 boats and yachts.

Durrat Marina is a project developed and jointly incorporated by Al Khaleej Development Company (Tameer) and Durrat Khaleej Al Bahrain.
