Gulf Air chief hails important role of trade union

The Gulf Air management welcomed the new office bearers of the Gulf Air Trade Union's board of directors syndicate.

Congratulating the elected members, Gulf Air chief executive officer Bjšrn NŠf said:_"The management recognises the important role the union plays by representing its members and we hope to establish a relationship based on the principles of respect, transparency and professionalism.

"The union members represent a large percentage of our work force and make a significant contribution to the airline's performance. By working together I know we can continue to create the right conditions to realise our future vision.

"I am sure the new office bearers will continue to serve the needs of the union members during their tenure. We look forward to working with them."

Twenty four candidates contested 11 seats in the Gulf Air Trade Union elections in which more than 700 employees voted.

The voting was held in the presence of a team of 19 observers, from a number of NGOs representing various trade unions and the Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions.
