Durrat Al Bahrain, the kingdom’s largest luxury residential, commercial and tourist resort development, has delivered the first wave of villas to new homeowners.

The hand over marks the beginning of a phased programme which will see more than 1,000 of Durrat Al Bahrain’s luxury villas released in the next few months.

The villas have been designed to embody Bahrain’s rich natural beauty and its affinity with the land and sea. Arranged across the development’s necklace of inter-connected residential islands, the villas offer every modern amenity. Residents will be able to relax in their waterfront homes which enjoy views across the crystal clear waters of the southern Bahraini sea.

Abdulhakeem Al Khayyat, chairman of Durrat Al Bahrain, said: “Durrat Al Bahrain offers a unique lifestyle.  Our new homeowners will now be able to live a life of island living in a thriving urban environment. Today marks an important day in the history of Durrat Al Bahrain.

“Only four years ago we set out to make our vision a reality, by taking this beautiful part of Bahrain and creating a new island-based city for the 21st century. Today, we can begin to see our vision becoming reality. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the project so far and we welcome our new homeowners to Durrat Al Bahrain, as they begin to experience the wonders of island living.”

Jassim Al Jowder, CEO of Durrat Al Bahrain, said: “This is a proud day for all associated with Durrat Al Bahrain. In a relatively short period of time we have done something very special here.

“We took a bold idea to create a unique island-based city and decided to create it. Today, as our first homeowners move in, we can see just how far we have come with our vision.  More than 1000 luxury waterfront villas will be handed over over the next few months in phases.

“I would like to thank the employees of Durrat Al Bahrain and our partners for working so hard to get to this historic day. We still have much to achieve to complete our vision but, in the meantime, we welcome our new homeowners to their new lives in Durrat Al Bahrain.”

Residents, businesses and visitors will not only be able to live the island lifestyle,  they will also be able to visit an 18 hole golf course designed by Ernie Els, the world-renowned golf champion.

The Golf Course Precinct will comprise a challenging, yet enjoyable, course, a club house, a driving range, a luxury hotel complex and stylishly designed luxury residential villas and apartments arranged around landscaped waterways, beach and sea fronts. In partnership with Tameer, Durrat Khaleej Al Bahrain will also offer The Marina, one of the region’s leading marinas covering 700,000sq/m, offering 400 berths in a stunning location across three islands.

Residents and visitors will be able to sail, jetski, cruise on a motor boat or simply soak up the quay-side activity.

Durrat Al Bahrain is owned by the Durrat Khaleej Al Bahrain Company, in which the government of Bahrain and Kuwait Finance House – Bahrain each hold a 50 per cent stake.

Durrat Al Bahrain, a 21sq/km area of pristine waters and untouched beaches, once complete, is expected to be approximately the size of Manama.
