Talented youngsters from across the region will be converging on the island for the Young Musician of the Gulf competition.
A record number of performers are expected from several Gulf countries including the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and, of course, Bahrain for this popular competition, supported by Gulf Air.
This year's event will bring together 120 students, 91 of which are soloists, participating in a week of nail-biting competitions. All competitors will also have the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops in both informal and formal groups, gaining tips and advice from top musicians.
"The competition has expanded over the years and the range of categories available this year indicates the growing popularity of this competition. The wider opportunities offered at YMoG enable students to get involved in all sorts of diverse musical experiences, from amassed choir and orchestra to jazz band, percussion groups and fusion.
"Practically anything is possible with this unique coming-together of talented young people and we anticipate an extremely exciting event this year," said head of music at St Christopher's Senior School and organiser of the competition Alistair Auld.

The semi-final will be held at St Christopher's Primary School campus in Saar on February 18, at 7pm. Admission is free. Platinum sponsor, Ambassadors stores, recently delivered St Christopher's School's very own baby grand piano in time for the event.
The grand final will be held at the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel, Residence and Spa February 19 at 7pm, where the young competitors will battle for the coveted title of 'Young Musician of the Gulf'. All competitors in the final will receive an award in recognition of the outstanding level of musical achievement demonstrated to get through to this stage.
