Slumdog movie is truly inspirational

Well it's the Oscars season and every year I have the habit of making sure I watch at least one or two of the movies nominated for an Academy Award.

Slumdog Millionaire was on the top of my list not because of its rising popularity in the west but because it represented something different and unique. The lead actor was not that 'Hollywood-Hero' type and the plotline was different in the sense it represented something ordinary yet extraordinary underneath it all.

The story of someone who came from the slums in India and participated (and won) in the most celebrated game shows was something that opened my eyes to the reality that anyone can dream of riches and fame if he or she puts in that little effort and faith.

What the movie taught me was that it may take some luck and destiny to win a game show like that, but what really matters in the end is the persistence that a person applies to achieve anything he desires.

What I find lacking in my generation of youngsters in the will to put effort into things be it in their studies, in sports or anything else. When adversity strikes members of this generation, they easily give up and surrender themselves to failure.

If I had any advice for you, my readers, this week is to get yourselves to see Slumdog Millionaire. It should inspire you tremendously because at the end of the day, win or lose, it is the patience and persistence that triumphs always.
