March 3 - 12

Title: 'The end of the dot' - An Exhibition by Bahraini Artist Ebrahim BuSaad

Venue: Albareh Art Gallery, Adliya

Time: 7pm

In this solo show, Bu Saad will showcase 15 new oil works painted on canvas where his work is centred around the concept of the 'dot' that begins but never ends. The artist tries to convey that going around things in life without logic could lead to a loss of time and the many positive aspects of it. Bu Saad was born in Muharraq in 1954 and has completed a Fine Arts degree from the University of Baghdad. His works are collected by Bahrain Museum, Qatar Museum, Sharjah Museum and Jordan Museum.

March 5

Title: 'Musical Maqamat, Mystical Stations' by Aicha Redouane & Ensemble Al Adwar

Venue: Shaikh Ebrahim Centre, Muharraq

Time: 8pm

Moroccan Aisha Ridwan brings a blend of musical masterpieces ranging from Barbarian Moroccan to Franco Anglican, Jazz-Blues to a variety of Arabic symphonies. Her love for music diverted her from becoming an engineer. In 1991 she took part in establishing a musical ensemble with the famous Lebanese musician Habib Yameen specialising in native Arabic melody rooting from the Levant. The evening commences with cultural symphonies and ends with Sufi poetry written by Rabea Aladweia and Omar Ibn Alfaredh and composed by Musician Habib Yameen and herself.

March 6

Title: 'Celebrating Jerusalem' - Edward Said National Conservatory of Music

Venue: Arad Fort

Time: 8.30 pm

The programme will start with excerpts from the famous Gayane Ballet music of Aram Khachaturian, and four of Brahms' Hungarian Dances, while the second part will be dedicated to Songs celebrating Jerusalem.

March 6 and 7

Title: 'Bahrain in the eyes of children' - Mural painting supervised by Samia Zaru

Venue: Iqra Library, Muharraq

Time: 9am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm

Artist Samai Zaru, a founding member of the Jordan National Gallery and the Artists Association, works in the domain of development of traditional designs in the Arab and Islamic World. She has worked for children televised art programmes, improving art awareness and supporting creative Visual Art teaching. On the art scene, her participation in International and Arab Exhibitions has won her many prizes and awards. Her works are in the collection of the Jordan National Gallery, Museum of Women in the Arts DC, the Regain Museum, USA, the Vatican Museum, Italy, the Iraqi Museum of Modern Art and the Rockefeller Art Collection as well as in the collections of art lovers around the world.

March 8 and 9

Title: 'The Ultimate Experience' Art exhibition & Film Screening

Venue: Al Riwaq Art Gallery, Al Aali Mall

Time: 7 pm

This is an international multidisciplinary exhibition which will explore the context of the space surrounding it. The show will be curated by William Wells of Townhouse Cairo.

The exhibition shows work by artists based on the consumerism aspects and its effects on the individuals' identity and culture while engaging the public to experience a new approach to the mall habits and rituals.

March 9

Title: Venus Khoury

Venue: House of Poetry

Time: 8pm

Lebanese Venus Khoury has lived in Paris, France since 1972. The poet and novelist has published 40 books and her poetry collation has been translated in 15 languages. Twenty of her novels have also been translated into different languages among them the English, Italian, Swedish, German, Korean and Spanish. Winner of many international awards such as Societe Des Gens De Letters and Mallarme Prize from France, Venus is renowned for critiques and researchers.
