Thursday (March 5) The ninth edition of the Al Ain Classics Festival will be held from today (March 5) until March 20. The Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra will perform at the Al Jahili Fort at 8pm playing Beethoven's Egmont overture, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for violin, viola and orchestra, Mendelssohn's Herbrides Overture and Schubert's Unfinished Symphony. The conductor will be Zbigniew Graca with soloists Jan Lewtak and Marek Marczyk.
Friday sees Mozart's fully staged opera The Marriage of Figaro sung in Arabic and on Saturday there is a Gala Concert with opera highlights from Mozart, Donizetti, Gounod and Bizet featuring UAE pianist Arsha Kaviani. For details visit www.timeoutabudhabi.com.
French artist Catherine Protsenko will end her exhibition today at the Casa dell'Arte gallery in Zinj. Catherine studied drawing and painting at the Atelier Martin-Talboutier in France and at one of Paris' art schools and the Manufacture Nationale des Gobelins. The work of seven artists being exhibited at Albareh Art CafŽ, Adliya will end today. Friday (March 6)
Center Stage Management, Dubai will host the Desert Rock Festival for its sixth edition to be held at Dubai Festival City.
Six international heavy metal bands will dominate the stage with seven hours of live music, supported by two lucky bands chosen from competitions currently running across the globe.
This year's festival will feature Motorhead, Arch Enemy, Opeth, ChimaIra, August Burns Red and Nervecell aside from the two winning bands.
The event also marks Motorhead's first ever performance in the Middle East since the beginning of their career in 1975.

Tuesday (March 10)
The Art House in Budaiya is holding a Mixed Media Mobiles workshop for children from five to 12 years. They will have the chance to make small ceramic shapes or objects to glaze. Once their shapes have been fired in the studio kiln, the children will be able to hang them on their mobiles, along with other things such as beads, jewels and coloured feathers.
