The seventh annual environmental fund-raising mini-marathon will be held on Friday, March 13 from 9am.

The race will have stop points to provide water and first aid for runners and a free blood test check by Bahrain International Hospital.

Funds collected from the event will be given to different charity societies on the island. For details contact Russel Mohammed on 39854677 or 17459459 ext 473.

On March 13 at the Golden Tulip Playhouse the Manama Singers and Bahrain Sinfonia will once again join forces for an evening of music, wit and theatre.

Audiences will be taken back in time to witness the hilarious courtroom antics of Gilbert & Sullivan's Trial By Jury, a comically entertaining one act operetta. Set in the Victorian era, Edwin, (Herbert Suarez) promises Angelina (Alicia Pashby) he will marry her and then promptly changes his mind. The jilted bride sues Edwin for breach of promise and so ensues an operetta full of music, song and fully staged theatrics. Trial By Jury's first performance in 1874 was an instant success for Gilbert and Sullivan and launched them as one of the most popular duos of all time.

The Bahrain Sinfonia will perform classic orchestral magic, including works by Gershwin, Stauss and Manuel de Falla and resident conductor is Alistair Auld. There will be two performances at 4pm and 8pm. Tickets are at BD9 and are available at Al Osra, the Bookcase and the Dilmun Club. For details log on to www.manamasingers.com.

The Cat society of Bahrain and Pet Animals (CSBPA) is conducting a silent auction brunch at the upstairs Downstairs Restaurant in Adliya on March 13 with various lots up for grabs including restaurant dinners, men's, ladies', kids' and even cats' pampering packs, a limo for the night and, it's rumoured, possibly even a holiday.
