Around 15,000 visitors turned out for the second Bahrain International Motor Show but there were some mixed reactions over the cancellation of part of one of the most keenly anticipated events.

The two-day show was held at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir over the weekend and though there were many motor enthusiasts in attendance lots of families were also on hand to see Big Foot. Though the monster truck was a big hit at the 2pm performance on Friday, the 4pm show had to be cancelled due to the weather and a mechanical problem leaving some parents cross.

However, families who did manage to catch it later on in the evening and on Saturday were full of praise.

Wassim Farhoud, chief executive officer of Auto Collection the motor-trade specialist and organiser of the event, said: "Due to the weather change on Friday, we decided to have two Big Foot shows rather than the three. So we pushed the 1pm to 2pm and the 4pm back until 8pm.

"We made sure to make announcements throughout the day to inform people of the changes.

"During the 2pm show, we had a mechanical issue as a bolt in Big Foot broke. Since we do not have this type of truck in Bahrain we had to rush and fix it somehow for the 8pm event.

"Thankfully the mean machine was fixed and Big Foot put on a great show just as promised.

"I didn't want to disappoint anyone and I have never seen so many happy faces at one event.

"The next motor show will be even bigger and better. We are learning step by step and will improve anything that comes up."

Visitor Anton Perera, 48, a duty manager in the operations department of Gulf Air, from Manama, said: "I thought it was a really good show all around but unfortunately due to the weather on Friday I don't think it was well organised. We wanted to watch the big man's show but it did not happen on time and we ended up waiting around for four hours until the next one started.

"Other than that the show was well organised and there were so many things to see."

Daughter Shenilka Perera, 17, a student at Al Noor School, said: "The event was really nice and I liked the Big Foot part of it. I want to see more of Big Foot in the next motoring show."

Family friend Manori Munasinghe, 41, a housewife, from Juffair, said: "I came here with my family and friends and I absolutely loved it. I enjoy drag racing, F1 and any motor sport event.

"I had my eye on the Bugatti and if I had the money I would get it in a heart beat."

Daughter Hassini Munasinghe, 14, a Modern Knowledge Schoolstudent, said: "The event was cool even though the weather was cold and windy. I really liked Big Foot and the car display especially the Lancer Evolution."

Viran Daluwatte, 13, a student of the British School of Bahrain, from Hamala, said: "Big Foot was my favourite part of the entire show.

"I think this was a great event for families as I really enjoyed it with mine."

The motor show also featured a stunt bike show, activities from the Bahrain Drag Racing Club on the drag strip, test-drives on the track and exhibits from some of the most recognised names in the motoring industry such as Maserati, Volkswagen, Porsche, Mini, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ferrari and more.

The classical car section and limited edition collection created quite a stir amongst the visiting car enthusiasts.

The Big Foot Show on Friday night was then followed by a spectacular concert played by popular French DJ and music producer David Vendetta and violinist Micah. Hip Hop DJ and creative producer Motiv8 put on a wild show on Saturday night while encouraging young Bahraini talent to approach him if 'they think they got flow'.
