A 35-member high profile delegation from Egypt, led by the country's Tourism Minister Zuhair Garana will be participating at the Bahrain International Travel Expo BITE 2009 to promote the country's history and heritage.

Promoting the land of pyramids and the amazing River Nile will be just part of the many cultural surprises and attractions planned for the tourism extravaganza in the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

Numerous exhibitors from the world have prepared special activities including national dancers, singers, musicians and performers as part of the cultural treat at this year's show. Additionally, organisers say BITE 2009 will be a great opportunity for travellers to discover a wide range of promotions and special deals that exhibitors have on offer for those consumers planning a holiday.

"BITE is the ideal place for visitors to obtain the latest information about the travel and tourism industry trends and book holiday packages customised to suit their specific budgets and needs," a spokesman said.

Also, in a bid to promote tourism to Bahrain, BITE is, for the fourth consecutive year, organising the 'Hosted Buyers Programme' for key international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) planners. All the professionals invited to the programme are responsible for planning, organising, recommending and making financial decisions for international events outside their home countries.

The comprehensive event includes one-on-one meetings between buyers and sellers at the travel show and a golden opportunity to showcase Bahrain's renowned Arabian hospitality and delights. The 'buyers' will be able to experience first hand the excellent conference and hospitality facilities Bahrain has to offer, check out the facilities at the Bahrain International Circuit, the Royal Golf Club and visit the various cultural and historical attractions in the kingdom.

A number of Bahrain's finest properties, such as The Ritz Carlton Bahrain Resort and Spa, The Banyan Tree, Coral Beach, Caramel CafŽ and Elite Resort & Spa will be hosting lunches and dinners for the participants.

BITE has grown over the past five years from a show in 2005 with 40 exhibitors attracting 12,500 visitors to 120 exhibitors and 18,000 visitors in 2008. This year's event is likely to attract around 100 exhibitors from more than 40 countries.

BITE will be staged for the 5th successful year from May 14-16 under the patronage of Crown Prince and Economic Development Board Chairman Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
