A Superman outfit worn by actor Christopher Reeve in the Superman movies, has been out on display before it comes up for auction at Bonhams & Goodman, in Melbourne, Australia.
The Superman outfit including the leotard, which bears the famous S logo, is from the 1983 film while the red trunks and yellow belt are from Christopher Reeve's debut in Superman The Movie in 1978.
The outfit which is to be auctioned on May 24 does not come with the boots or the famous red cape and was especially designed with reinforced slits in the sides where wires were rigged up for simulated flying sequences.
It has a price target between $11,400 and $15,200. A letter of authenticity from Warner Bros comes with the outfit.
Auctioneer Giles Moon said the costume was being sold by an avid film buff who bought it in London five years ago.
