Works are under way to keep the Marina West development on track and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed for important aspects of the project.

Developers say the difficult market conditions have had a limited effect on the beachfront, high-rise scheme and the property market is showing signs of recovery.

Marina West CEO Mahmood Janahi said: "The residential and hotel towers have reached various stages of completion. For the 20-floor towers two thirds of the roof slabs have been laid and internal block has reached the eighth floor in some cases.

"For the higher 26-floor towers over 50 per cent of the roof slabs have been laid in most cases and internal block work has reached the seventh floor in almost all cases.

"Action for internal finishes is in hand simultaneously. Floor tiles, sanitary and kitchen ware and iron mongery have been thoroughly examined for quality by the architects before these are approved for incorporating in the works."

Announcing the signing of the MoUs, he added: "Marina West has entered into agreements for district cooling and has signed MOUs with reputed companies for sewage treatment and ICT. Works on these will commence soon and their progress will match with the main work for timely completion.

"Negotiations with consultants and professionals for the marina works and facility management services have reached an advanced stage and very soon these will be finalised."
