Style and sophistication are brought together in the new leather accessories collection from Bulgari as the top notch brand celebratres its 125th anniversary.

The hallmark of this collection is the traditional, unmistakable Bulgari style. Under the creative direction of Gian Luca Lera, it has been updated with new and original interpretations infused with a quality that is expressed in the precious materials and exquisite craftsmanship of every single handbag, made at the new accessories factory in Florence.

The atmosphere evoked by the new collection is the romantic and sophisticated world of 1920s Paris, whose details and forms recall the long-limbed, graceful figures of women at the time, the guardians of timeless sensuality and allure.

The palette of colours used in the collection reflects the soft tones and diffused light of a summer sky at dusk, with a delicate modulation of different tones of beige and mordorŽ.

Pale, typically summery hues such as azure, jade, and curry blend with the more pronounced nuances of plum and cherry. All of this is softened by the sophisticated and elegant touch of mauve, which lends the palette of colours an aura of feminine haute-couture.

Fabrics made of canvas or adorned with semi-precious stones and Murano glass alternate with smooth or pleated leather that shines like iridescent powder.

The distinctive traits of Bulgari style are found in the traditional lines that are complemented by new and refined ideas.

In the 1910 Collection the old art nouveau style advertising sign at the historic store on Via dei Condotti in Rome appears to be printed in contrast not only on leather but also on oiled linen and cotton canvas assembled with a chevron motif, the emblematic design formed by the continuous angular parentheses that recur in Bulgari tradition and that can be found in sketches and precious evening handbags from the early 1950s.

In the Leoni line, the seal with facing leonine heads is rendered in pale, antiqued gold and used as a sophisticated decorative device on the handle fasteners. These models are available in different colours and materials.

Soft skins with seductive forms are the distinctive elements of the Doppio Tondo line, where the two superimposed rings engraved with the double logo BVLGARI BVLGARI become precious fasteners for handbags in pearly napa leather, blanketed with a thin veil of luminescence that exalts its soft touch.

A pale iridescence is also found in the Twist line, where folds and pleats are brightened by soft highlights in an intriguing play of chiaroscuro below the pair of medallions bearing the BVLGARI BVLGARI decorative motif and offered in a new, wider version.

The Twist model is also stylistically reinterpreted in the Twist String version, where the medallions are replaced by a pair of knotted laces that create leather undulations and ruffles in purses with a bizarre and intriguing egg shape.

The evening collection is comprised of precious models featuring original juxtapositions of materials and colours. Patchwork fabrics with floral motifs and satin are combined with semiprecious stones and Venini Murano glass cut in the form of stones or bird feathers.

The collection is crowned by the model that celebrates the 125th anniversary of Bulgari, which falls in 2009: a purse whose chevron motif canvas is decorated with multicoloured designs of pins in the form of flower baskets and seashells from the 1950s and 1960s. The originals are currently kept in the historic archive of Bulgari.

Bulgari designs can be found in Bahrain at Al A'ali Mall.
