BMW celebrated three category wins this year at the International Engine of the Year Award, the world's premier engine contest.
Its EfficientDynamics development strategy has achieved an unrivalled balance between the efficiency and power of its engines, making them a favourite among the 65 members of the international panel of judges.
Prizes were awarded across eight engine classes based on size, as well as three special categories, and the award for the overall winner.
The BMW group reigned supreme across three engine classes: its V8 power unit used in the BMW M3 and the straight-six with 'twin turbo technology' used in the BMW 3 Series, BMW 1 Series and the BMW X6 were both winners in their respective classes.
Its four-cylinder twin scroll turbocharged engine technology used in the MINI Cooper S also claimed victory. This year's impressive haul takes their grand total to 40 trophies during the 11 years that the International Engine Award has been taking place.
