Bahrain is known to many as the 'Island of Golden Smiles' and many expatriates flock here for work and a better lifestyle. One programme is taking an in depth look at the social side, highlighting the clubs and societies of Bahrain.
The programme, which is called 'Highlights, Clubs & Societies', is created and produced by Shaikh Isa bin Khalifa Al Khalifa who said: "We've invited numerous clubs and societies to participate in the programme, where we will be capturing the lifestyles of expatriates on the island.
"We are inviting committee's and members to share with us the history and highlights of their club or society. Looking at the social activity, events past, present and future and delving deeper into what each one has to offer to Bahrain residents.
"Bahrain's clubs and societies cater for a wide range of people from all walks of life. With our new programme we hope to show the exciting and diverse types of social activities each establishment or group has to offer. And to show the love and care the committees and members have for their club or society."
The programme is directed by Hassan Al Samahiji and presented by Angel Cecil, also presenter for the recently aired second season of Memories and on-going weekly programme, Bahrain Weekend.
"We've already starting filming for the first few episodes and we can see already that it's set to be an exceptional and very engaging series," said Angel.
"Each club and society has such different aspects to cover, that it makes the programme not only exciting to film but fascinating to watch. Bahrain is an amazing island, and it's great to experience and see more of what it has to offer."
Each week, starting from Saturday, a different club or society will be covered.
This week will be the Royal Golf Club followed in coming weeks by the Australian Association, the Indian Club, the Batelco Club and the BSPCA with more to come.
The series will be aired in English on BTV, Channel 2 (previously known as Channel 55) every Saturday at 7.30pm and repeated on Wednesday at 8pm for 13 episodes, possibly more.
The clubs and societies team is always interested to hear from anyone that would like to participate on the programme.
