THE latest Nissan Murano model, described by the makers as 'seductive and uniquely expressive' received its launch in the kingdom at Bahrain City Centre.

The Japanese motoring giant predicts it will be 'the future of the crossover' boasting a fusion of the dynamic driving characteristics of a luxury sedan with the security, space and desirability of an SUV.

Rohit Kapur, Y K Almoayyed's marketing manager, said: "The new Murano is exactly as the caption says - 'the future of the crossover has arrived' - we are offering the latest in terms of crossover, styling and technology.

"Our customers have always loved the shape of the Murano and the new launch has also created a lot of excitement. We have already received 10 pre-launch bookings for the new car."

The new Murano is more economical to run, sportier yet more refined to drive, and offers a sumptuous, contemporary interior clad in a more elegant exterior.

It comes with an extensive standard equipment list including new optional twin sunroof and powered tailgate, three grade range of base, SL and LE models, electric folding rear seats and an interior with double stitched leather upholstery.

The car comes with a revised 3.5-litre V6 engine that delivers 256hp (net) developed at 6000rpm and net torque is boosted by an extra 0.3kgm to 34kgm (net) at 4400rpm and races from zero to 100kmph in eight seconds, reduced CO2 and more efficient fuel economy as well as a stiffer all-wheel drive platform and revised suspension to improve driving dynamics.

Other specifications include 18-inch alloys, rear privacy glass, bi-xenon headlamps, cruise control and an in-dash six-disc CD player with auxiliary-in socket for MP3 players.

Customers can also enjoy a rich audio experience delivered by a Bose audio system with 10-channel amp via 11 carefully positioned speakers, including a pair of Richbass woofers mounted in the spare wheel well.

There's the convenience of Nissan's 'intelligent key' for easy keyless-access and once seated, front seat occupants can find the ideal position thanks to powered front seats and steering wheel complete with memory setting.

Climate control air conditioning has been enhanced with a mild flow vent which dissipates air around the cabin rather than directly at occupants.

Rear seats split 60/40 and are lowered simply by pulling a lever in the luggage area and raising them by pressing a button on the dashboard or in the cargo area and the seats automatically move into position in just eight seconds.

Every body panel is new and distinctive elements include pronounced wheel arches linked by similarly profiled sections at the bottom of each door for an added touch of ruggedness, side windows that taper more sharply into the roof line and a shallower headlamp profile that blends seamlessly into the new chrome-effect grille.

The redesigned tail includes triangular LED tail lights and a re-profiled tailgate. A speed sensitive power steering system now improves ease of driving at low speeds and gives a more direct feel at higher speeds.

The car also features an all-mode 4x4-i technology.

The new Murano costs between BD14,995 and BD16,595.
