wednesday (Sept 9) Film - Get Shorty on Star Movies at 8 30pm. John Travolta stars as Chili Palmer, a Miami loan shark who's been sent to L.A. to collect a debt from B-grade movie producer Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman). Although Chili has every intention to regain the money, as an avid film buff he starts pitching Harry a script idea he believes is destined to win an Oscar. Chili's knowledge of the criminal underworld proves to be an advantage for him and he quickly settles into his new role as a movie producer: romancing actresses, schmoozing superstars, gaining access to Hollywood's hot spots.

THURSDAY (Sept 10)

Documentary - Megastructures: Train Wreck on NGC at 5pm.

Railroads are the backbone of American industry. 170,000 miles of track crisscross the country from coast to coast, moving two million billion tons of freight nationally every year. But nothing lasts forever, and that includes a couple of 180-ton locomotives.

Their engine technology is inefficient, so they are headed for the scrap dealer where they will be cut down and cannibalised.

FRIDAY (Sept 11)

Film - Crocodile Dundee on Fox Movies at 11pm.

Accustomed to a simple life in the Australian Outback, a legendary crocodile hunter has trouble adjusting to his new surroundings when an American journalist brings him to New York City. This Australian comedy delivers exactly what one would expect: plenty of fish-out-of-water gags about the hunter's reactions to the absurdity of modern urban life. Though he initially seems naive, Paul Hogan's "Crocodile" Dundee soon demonstrates that his natural ways are rather quite well-suited to city life, especially for dealing muggers

SATURDAY (Sept 12)

Film - The Dark Is Rising on Super Movies at 8 30pm.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Susan Cooper, The Seeker is the first film adaptation of the author's The Dark Is Rising series of fantasy tales. The film tells the story of Will Stanton (Alexander Ludwig), a young man who learns on his 14th birthday that he is the last of a group of warriors, known as the Light, who have dedicated their lives to fighting a a sinister and growing evil force. By traveling back and forth through time, Will embarks on a quest to acquire six signs that will save the world and hopefully protect him in his inevitable showdown with The Rider (Christopher Eccleston), a super villain with unimaginable powers.

SUNDAY (Sept 13)

Film - Transporter 2 on Fox Movies at 1am.

Frank Martin (Jason Statham) is the best in the business. The ex-Special Forces operative hires himself out as a mercenary "transporter" who moves goods - human or otherwise. Frank has relocated from the French Mediterranean to Miami, Florida, where as a favour to a friend, Frank is driving around the wealthy Billings family. But when their son Jack is kidnapped, Frank must use his battle-tested combat skills to retrieve the boy and thwart the kidnappers' master plan to release a deadly virus.

MONDAY (Sept 14)

Film - Proof of Life on Fox Movies at 1am.

Peter Bowman, an American engineer in a Latin American country, is kidnapped for a $3 million dollar ransom. Abandoned by her husband's employer and insurance company, his wife Alice (Meg Ryan) refuses to give up his life. She takes on the task of bringing him home but realises she can't do it without help. An expert in 'K&R' (Kidnap & Ransom), Terry Thorne (Russell Crowe) is Alice's and only hope for saving Peter. Throughout the lengthy negotiations, Alice and Terry develop a mutual respect which evolves into a mutual attraction as they barter for Peter's life with the kidnappers.

TUESDAY (Sept 15)

Film - The Postman on Fox Movies at 1 am.

Set some 20 years in the future after the devastating Second Civil War, the story revolves around a drifter who unwittingly becomes a national hero. On the run from an evil and oppressive sect known as the Holns, the drifter retreats to the woods of the Northwestern US and assumes the identity of a postal employee when he inadvertantly stumbles upon a wrecked postal vehicle. The Postman begins to deliver the mail, providing a sense of hope to the frightened locals.
