The Geely GE is the first major luxury offering from Geely's elegant sub-brand ENGLON (which stands for London, England) and will be on the roads of the kingdom within five months.
Modelled after the Rolls Royce Phantom in a peculiarly Chinese way, the GE even has its own hood ornament too.
The Geely GE may seem like a Rolls Royce rip-off, but it has one-upped the luxury brand by having one less backseat. It features just one, throne-like seat.
It is likely to be available early next year priced at around BD35,000-40,000 from Mannai Motors in Salmabad.
A real Roller will put you back between BD180,000-200,000.
Geely Group's recent acquisition of Australia-based Drivetrain Systems International (DSI), the world's second largest automatic transmission company, has enabled it to launch three sub-brands aimed at helping lovers of luxury cars to 'cope' with the global financial crisis.
The Geely GE was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show last April as part of a product series entitled GLEAGLE, EMGRAND and SHANGHAI ENGLON. GLEAGLE aims to deliver the concept of fashion, enthusiasm and dream, EMGRAND is the symbol of luxury, solidity and power while SHANGHAI ENGLON interprets the classical and noble concept.
Geely has displayed 22 models that are going to be produced and launched in 2010 and 2011.
