Bahrain Polytechnic aims to help Bahrain's logistics industry fill the numerous business and services opportunities available for qualified and skilled graduates.

It recently started a Bachelors of International Logistics Management programme at its Isa Town campus which has attracted 20 students who last year completed their foundation courses in English and Mathematics.

Bahrain Polytechnic signed an agreement last July with The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK, paving the way for a strategic alliance between the two. The agreement means that the polytechnic will be able to offer the programme exclusively in the Gulf region.

The demand to enter it is expected to increase in the coming semesters due to the shortage of logistics skilled and educated workers in the kingdom's labour market.

John Scott, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, said: "This accomplishment comes in line with Bahrain Polytechnic's vision of becoming the leading polytechnic in the Gulf, known for the quality of the graduates, teachers and the technical education that it provides. Because of the major economic transformations observed in the local and regional market, we at the polytechnic continuously develop the quality of our programmes and ensure that they meet the latest needs and requirements of the local, regional and international market."
