Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF) held a sell-out dinner in honour of the Lord Mayor of the City of London Nick Anstee at the Gulf Hotel at the end of his two-day visit to Bahrain.
The trip was hosted by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Economic Development Board (EDB) chairman, and aimed at promoting partnerships, investment and expertise sharing between the financial centres of Bahrain and the City of London.
There was a focus on areas of mutual interest, namely capital markets, Islamic finance and education and training. At Thursday evening's dinner he also discussed how Bahrain and the UK must continue to co-operate in tackling the global economic crisis.
BBBF chairman Khalid Al Zayani said: "Bahrain is the Middle East's longest established financial services centre and has a well regulated banking system and so it is the natural home for banks looking to develop business in the GCC region.
"We are also leaders in economic and educational reform with many business focused initiatives coming from the EDB and Tamkeen, particularly those addressing key skills gaps."
