Mexican ambassador Arturo Trejo travelled across the causeway from his base in Saudi Arabia to enjoy the launch of the Margarita Mexicana Restaurant at the Gulf Hotel, writes Stan Szecowka.
A special reception was held at the hotel's Vintage Bar before VIP guests joined diners at the new eating venue which offers an array of authentic Mexican cuisine.
Visiting Mexican chef Sofia Sahagun has flown in to assist the kitchen team and Friday night's entertainment included traditional Mexican singers and dancers.
Mr Trejo, who was introduced to restaurant staff, management and the troupe of entertainers, said he thoroughly enjoyed the fare, adding: "I'll be back!"
