Dear Stan, I AM pleased to announce, Bahrain Mobility International has started its fund-raising efforts for this year! With the help of Sail Bahrain, Warren Macleod, GAC and many volunteers' opportunities will happen at various locations across Bahrain throughout April.

The major attraction this month is Hilary Lister. An international, quadriplegic sailor who single-handedly sailed around the UK and is now coming to the shores of Bahrain to sail around the kingdom.

We are applauding Bahrain's private schools that are fully behind fund raising efforts and are driving awareness for Bahrain Mobility and following Hilary's sail around Bahrain. Students have the opportunity to name Hilary's boat until April 2.

Each entry costs 500 fils and students can enter the competition as many times as they like. All proceeds go to the Bahrain Mobility International Charity which has a target of BD60,000 this year in order to finish a swimming pool and recreational facilities for its members.

Judges will select an English and Arabic name, which will be printed on the side of the boat, and each lucky winner will have the chance to welcome Hilary back from her trip on April 17. The two lucky students will get to climb aboard a support boat and sail beside Hilary as she comes into dock at Amwaj Islands' marina.

Other fund raising activities are also happening with Nadeem International School well and truly behind the cause creating a special 'sailors' day for students to dress-up and donate BD1 - aye, aye captain, so watch out for sailors on March 31.

Dear Stan, This is regarding Marie-Claire's column 'Sleeping with the enemy'. I honestly didn't see any point of her rant - if she had no opinion on the matter why waste the column space?

I'm sure you could publish something which carried more weight and insight into the topic, instead of the writer's inability to speak out or even understand the topic of discussion. Next time please; less noise and more sense!

Ravan Singh,

By email.

Editior's note: Marie-Claire is rarely short of an opinion. Although she couldn't condone rapists being allowed to marry their victims as a means of escaping prison she was attempting to show sympathy to the women cajoled into accepting such a suggestion to save face because of the society they have to live in.
